Aleksandra Ismail
Aleks will be the first to tell you when you meet her: yoga saved her life. After experiencing traumas throughout her life, thus leaning on unhealthy coping habits, and gaining over 120 lbs., she found herself in a state of imbalance and overall suffering by early adulthood. She began exploring alternative medicine and discovered a deep passion for Ayurvedic nutrition. She began to feel better than she had since childhood, and so Aleks decided to abandon her corporate path to pursue a career in the healing arts. She discovered yoga when she (literally) drove by KULE Yoga & Ayurveda one fateful autumn evening. She began attending weekly classes, and though it felt remarkably difficult at first (imagine heavy breathing, even in Savasana), the inevitable and eventual positive effects of a regular yoga practice struck her like lightning and her healing really took off. After losing 75 lbs. and gaining physical, mental, and emotional strength she did not think possible, Aleks now hopes to share the healing powers of yoga and Ayurveda with everyone. She believes that yoga is for everybody, and for every body, and hopes to continue to prove that yoga is not just for a specific body type; yoga is accessible to anyone who is able to breathe (in the wise words of one of her teachers).
Aleks completed her 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher trainings with Keely Totten at the KULE Embodied Shakti School, coupled with a mentorship with Peggy Burt. She is a Hatha yoga student of the Sri Vidya Tradition in the lineage of the Himalayan Masters. Aleks teaches Agni Activation and Sweet Beginners group classes. She believes in the healing potential of joy and laughter and likes to incorporate these themes into her classes often. Additionally, Aleks is an Ayurvedic Health Counselor and offers Ayurvedic consultations in preventative care and overall wellness. She is continuing her Ayurvedic education at the California College of Ayurveda, and is also developing her healing kitchen which will feature Ayurvedic cuisine.
